PAPER PIECING TUTORIAL: SHADING
Hello and Happy Holidays!
This is Krafty Girl Becky from Cards by Becky with a
Paper Piecing Tutorial featuring Shading.
To learn the basics, view my original Paper Piecing Tutorial, click here.
Paper piecing can make an image come alive...for even more depth, try shading!
TIPS:
(a) SHADING: When shading, follow the lines provided on the
stamped image by the artist.
(b) COLOR: Build up the color, starting with the lightest or darkest
and then add to the color as needed.
(c) EXPERIMENT: Try shading with the Copic markers and
then the Prismacolor pencils to see what works best for you.
(d) LIGHT SOURCE: Decide where your light source is coming from and
apply shading to add dimension and depth to your paper piece.
Okay!
Let's get started!
Step 1: My image is colored below and ready to add
the paper pieced portion.
Step 2: Next, I have paper pieced the dress on.
Step 3: Finally, I shade the paper piece for extra depth.
I have utilized Prismacolor pencils with gamsol solvent
and blending stumps on the image below.
